Low-Energy Consumption Designs: Energy$ense™ products are built on foundation of Synchronous High-Efficiency Converters (94% peak) that are optimized for use across light-load to full-load ratings. Unlike most multi-rail PMUs, these converters have fully independent control (like ccm/dcm control, startups, shutdowns, margining, etc.) to enable each rail independent behavior based on system specific requirements.
Simplified Designs for EU Energy Compliance Standards: Given most equipment spend most of the time in sleep/standby operating modes, it's equally important to minimize energy draw in those modes. Energy$ense™ products are designed with very low Standby and Sleep mode power is kept low (<10uA) to enable design for latest EU Energy Compliance standards like eup Lot3/6/7 requirements, Code of Conduct (CoC) requirements.
Simplified Platform Power Design Optimization: With the capability of Energy$ense™ solutions to provide extensive Hardware (HW, pin programmed) features, and, additional Software (SW, I²C) based features the platform designer can optimize the features needed per power design while staying with the same DC-DC device family. Roadmaps of power designs starting with HW features and extending to SW based designs are simplified because the DC-DC power designs will be very similar and often the same.
Dynamic Power Management Implementations: Various power design modes lend themselves for a dynamic and adaptive implementation of power profiles. Given reality of very high leakage current in modern sub-micron geometries, best way to conserve power is by turning on/off or scaling the supplies as needed in the system. Examples include RF Power Amplifier supply management in Time-Domain Multiplexed communication applications like LTE, disabling device clusters/ASICs where certain functionality is not needed, or linearly scaling the supply based on processor performance need.
